Goodbye Bluetooth… and Hello Google Glasses!
Unless you have been living under a rock, you should be aware of Google’s newest project: Project Glass. If you weren’t aware, you should definitely check out their Youtube video on the concept. I’m seeing a lot of different reactions to the glasses, but most are positive and people are ready to sell their house if it means owning a pair of the Google Goggles. Here are a few ideas that would enhance the goggle experience.
Double Vision Anyone?
I’m not sure how many of us wear corrective glasses to help with poor eyesight but it makes me wonder 2 things: First, how will you be able to wear their prescription glasses and their google goggles at the same time? Second, will the Google Goggle’s lens be adjustable for near/far sighted issues? These are pretty important things to look at when designing them.
Watch out for….
Ah, famous last words before something bad. Whether you are the one saying it or hearing it. I think a fantastic feature would be for the Google Goggles to have a built in warning system, almost like the newer vans have when backing up and you get too close to something. Let’s face it, they are trying to pass laws to stop texting and walking because of the rising self inflicted injuries…not to mention the embarrassment.
Built in safety
One has to worry about how many people will be using this while driving! I’m hoping this thing comes with a safety feature so it cannot be used while driving. All phone calls and text messages automatically come through the stereo in the vehicle.
Insurance covers that, right?
How many of you who have owned a pair of regular glasses, whether it be reading, all the time use, or sunglasses, and then broke them? Don’t even get me started on the anxiety of having one of these high tech glasses with young kids in the home! How about bending over and them falling off your face and scratching? Hopefully there will be a good insurance plan that comes with the goggles to cover the expenses of what life does to a pair of glasses.
Battery Low
Isn’t this always the issue with smartphones? The battery life is always infuriatingly horrible! Maybe a small solar harvester lens should be added to help power them for longer, not to mention it would appeal to the “Green” crowd!
Positive is Negative
It’s already been proven that prolonged cell phone users have higher health risks thanks to the good ol’ Positive Ions they produce. The word positive isn’t always a good thing, it’s actually quite negative in this scenario. Positive ions turn into free radicals in the body that oxidize cells throughout the entire system. Causing damage to your healthy cells and increasing the acidity of your blood. When cells are oxidized, lactic acid levels rise drastically, resulting in a variety of ailments, including cancer! Sound like something you want wrapped around your face all day without a little protection? Adding something to emit negative ions would help cancel out a lot of those positive ions that electronics produce!
A large amount of the population are on the edge of their seats ready to sport the new Terminator look and be a part of the fad. Hopefully they will consider safety to be top priority before releasing the Google Goggles to the public and hopefully they don’t forget to add a personal assistant, like Siri, because everyone could use one and so far only Apple has been able to pull it off the closest! Hey, why shouldn’t technology work for you?

Google Glasses! ^_^
Eagerly waiting for ‘em. If these glasses work, then the world will move towards the next-generation technology. Who knows, the world might turn out to be like one of those sci-fi movies. :p
Well written, Monica. I think Pros and Cons are most viable to address before choosing something that might have a revolutionary effect upon your life. Fingers crosses…..lets hope it turns out to be a cracker.
