John Mayer “Draws Something”!
John Mayer takes us back to the drawing board with his latest music video; well, it’s not entirely all that old-fashioned. Though he surely has created something entirely unique in order to promote his new single, ‘Queen of California’ – the video for this track doesn’t contain just any footage; it uses ‘Draw Something’ to craft an attractive set of aesthetics, complementing the lyrics.
We’ve all at least heard of ‘Draw Something?’ even if we aren’t all addicted to it. It’s the mobile app through which two players alternately draw and send pictures to each other, allowing the other to guess the word being conveyed.
The design studio head at Brainbowinc, Jimmy Thompson, decided to take the phrase ‘thinking outside the box’ to a whole new level by using this social drawing and guessing game to create John Mayer’s latest music video. The video is a compilation of impressive drawings that depict the themes present in the song; along with proving that the man chosen for the job was one of the more frequent and talented users of this app.
Definitely makes one sit back and wonder if this is a foresight into the future of music videos. With social media and the internet slowly taking over the world, even music videos seem to be metamorphosing and adapting to the latest trends.
The video is surely fun to watch as one anticipates the drawings which are revealed slowly as they are drawn. Pictures of everything from a pair of very funky headphones to the Queen and even Neil Young pop up over the course of the video! What’s even more interesting is how series of sketches are used to create the illusion of cartoon motion – something we all haven’t seen in a while.
The four minute compilation of colorful images is surely a treat to watch while listening to John Mayer’s latest single, ‘Queen of California’, be sure to check it out below!

Interesting!
All I can say is that this gives “going with the flow” a whole new meaning!
