[Say It!] Women Are Complicated… Or Are They?
By Iram Wyne
I’ve wanted to write something for quite some time now, but couldn’t find the right words to pen my thoughts. So I asked a couple of friends for assistance and one of them said “write about women, I bet you won’t be able to complete a book in a hundred years!”
Well, I wasn’t willing to writing a book anyway; I just wanted to write something… And this particular matter sounded intriguing.
Being a woman, yes, I can define the fair sex, but then, some might consider it as defensive of me. With thoughts such as these, a multitude of questions rose in my mind, including, “What makes a man think that women are complicated?”
I try to be unbiased and see both sides of the picture and it makes me ponder upon the fact… Does man think?
Are daughters complicated?
Since they are the sweetest of God’s creation, I assume the answer would be No.
Is a mother complicated?
She is kind and caring and a million other things that words can’t do justice to, hence again I assume the answer would be No.
Surely a female colleague at work must be?
No, she is a professional and is only doing her job.
A sister perhaps…
No way! She may be annoying at times, but you know she’d love her brother despite anything!
So who is complicated then, a girlfriend or a wife?
Hummmm… I stop and think.
The answer is yes.
Why? Because these are relationships, where a woman isn’t the only one involved. Just as it takes two to Tango, it takes the co-operation of both the male and the female to make a relationship a successful one. That led me to conclude how women ought not to be characterized as ‘complicated’ without a reason.

Yeesh. (-_-)
Women are complicated.
Men are complicated.
Because Human Beings are complicated.
Sometimes they're complicated because they're simple (in some aspect, not necessarily all) but you have to discover it yourself. Why is 'complicated' automatically bad? It all adds to their richness and the joy of knowing, discovering and experiencing them.
You don't try to simply a Rembrandt and a human being is no less a work of art.
Agree Fatima ,"human being is no less a work of art". but my point was…. We use word “complicated “when things hard to understand or someone don’t even bother to understand or people failed to explore the story behind the picture or someone can’t see things clear . things defines complicated then .So some how women might be facing this . So that might be a reason word "complicated " is just use for women .
Thank god oversimplification is not a punishable crime warna FIR cut chukee hotee.
Women are emotional and men are usually rational. We hide our feelings within layers after layers whereas men are not that secretive. That's why they find us complicated because of our different personalities. I don't mind being labelled complicated; it's just who we are
You are stereotyping here. I am pretty sure there are as many girls rational out there as there are guys who are emotional.
Actually studies have suggested that women do tend to be more emotional and sensitive than men. Some say it’s because their brains are wired differently (seriously) while others say it’s because of how the society expects them to behave. Either way, I don’t see any problem with generalizations and stereotypes when they are backed with statistics and studies but as long as they are not used to pre-judge individuals.
It really depends on the surroundings. The ratios and statistics are I am pretty sure conducted in the well developed parts of the country and include just a little part of our community. The conditions and people change everywhere
And they call ME a sexist =O
You don't have much of a defense considering you have 150 girls in the team and 2 guys :p
Count again? =P
I'd really back off Ziad.
The guest contributor list also slides in a one sided direction
O so you guys DO count the number of girls…
BUT in my team there are actually more boys than girls- even if just 1 more. As for the guest contributors- why dont boys write as much as girls, Ali? =P
I wasn't counting
I just noticed the guest contributors list which is dominated by girls =P Ask them that Ziad
Just saying (A)
Maybe the guys aren't that influential in persuading their classmates to write as much Amna is
hahahhahahahah… dude… NO. i persuaded no one except you =P
Ziad doesn't feel threatened… awein acting kar raha hai =P
hahaha! wo to pata lag raha hai=P
Really? I thought I heard k kaafi logo ko kaha hai likhne ko to at least =P
Half the contributors are your recruits =P
I used the word 'usually'
We both are emotional and rational but our ratios differ.
The word "usually" is stereotyping
Indeed it differs. And a person can be emotional and rational at the same time. Although I do believe that the fast urban live does not allow women to be that dependent on emotions anymore.
I guess "stereotypes" is your favourite word .:P
If I am not wrong then you talking about women image in urban society in you last line above and I am totally agree with you on this point . Women aspect to be much emotionally stronger then it was before.
if you just talking about "in urban live" then you are stereotype here . first dividing society then might be pointing out women from a specific class . But I was talking generally .
Oh wow! impaled upon your own sword :/
although i sure hope they are!
I used stereotypes because the writer wrote in that context. She thinks daughters are the sweetest of all creations ( just a random example from the article). Not every daughter would be like that now would be?
exactly my point. I am dividing and talking about a particular sect. Because seriously you can't categorize all the women in one sector at all! It is not really a good representation of all the women out there
hummmmmmmmmm
agree
But I think we cant categorize all human in one sector if we divide society .
Warrior, himmat hai bhaee aap kee.
Btw, does this go down as the highest number of comments unrelated to the post?
I agree it does… so how's everyone?
not really =P Look at the posts with nigh 100 comments =P
we have had facebook convos going in there O.o
sara "x" nikaal diya warrior ka yaar =P
himmat ki baat nahi! boriat hai =p
every role of a woman has another aspect. your ticking is too simple in my opinion.
a mother is not a mother only neither is a sister a sister only.. the combinaton of roles leads to complexity ….
Betty Friedan. 'Nuff said.
