Who is the Culprit Here?
I guess most of the people here are familiar with the situations of hostels in government institutions. Everyone knows directly or indirectly what goes beyond the corridors of boys or girls hostel. I am from Bahauddin Zakriya University Multan, which has one of the notorious hostels in the vicinity. Last week we heard of a dreadful incident in a girl’s hostel. There was minor fight between two roommates over turning the light off at night. One of the girls took it seriously and got her room changed. And what more she didn’t end it here. Next day, she went back to that room, locked it and tortured that girl with a blade. Screams of the victim could be heard in the entire building and there was no one to save her. After about half an hour, the girl came out all blood-bathed and left the building while the victim was admitted in I.C.U. No one could do anything about it as that girl had a strong political background and she wasn’t even repentant over what she had done. These are students, for crying out loud.
The incident I quoted is just one of many. There are thousands of them that I have heard or witnessed and the reasons were so silly that one can just wonder open-mouthed and wide-eyed. One of my friends studies in Comsats University, Wah Campus. He told me about a case where some class mates drugged the class topper and left him in the hostel room and locked the door. He was miraculously saved by his parents who were trying to call him and he wasn’t picking it up.
Another case that I came to know of was here in Gulgasht, Multan. We all know how desperate we become to get our hands on anything that has any chance to appear in next day’s exam. The same thing happened with an intermediate student. He was one of the position holders in first year. One of his friends asked him to come over near 9-Chungi and collect the next day’s paper from him. What more he could have asked for? He hurried to the said place where his friend was waiting for him. When he asked for the question paper, that so-called friend shot him dead with his gun pointed to his forehead. Both of them were standing on a chowk and amidst many witnesses but the culprit just ran off and no one could do anything about that.
It is genuinely beyond my comprehension how students like me can do this to their peers and walk away with it, without feeling the guilt or without being accounted for. What I do know is that someone somewhere is setting a bad example and the trend of committing such heinous acts is pervading the society.

I think, It’s because of lack of administration, in our country, it became a general behavior that one who has a strong background can do everything; whether it s right or wrong, n the pity s that no one can even stop them.
I was just shocked, when i had read dis news in a local newspaper. shame on these SO-CALLED friends who don’t even think before doing something like dis. It’s really sad.
Basic lack of ethics… unfortunately along with the admin, it is the parents who are to be blamed primarily for letting their children run around like hell hounds and marking no boundaries and becoming jerks (to be polite) to the extent where education (the enlightenment of mind) does not seem to have any weight at all.
Well done Iram!
strongly agree with Laila n Wajiah
media is showing such aggressive roles
n our young generation is being fascinated by the wrong characters because they are being shown as powerful and authoritative ones
This all was really shocking for me to know
people are becoming senseless day by day
and so daring that they didn’t even think to hesitate once before doing such crimes. . .
;((((
Depressing, very depressing indeed.
hmm…nothing can happen. There must be one who could stop these so called institutions which just sell degrees and no training!
I don’t value any institute to be remained open except a very few ,may be two or three. But I loved the way you spoke. I wish everyone must feel his/her responsibility to at least speak against such criminal incidents.
yea, the problem is noone is ready to accept the responsibility. we live in a double-standard society that gives respect to those having power and status only, and thats how all the institutions work
